Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to the State of Israel, Ambassador Nkechi Linda Ufochukwu, has officially arrived at the Nigerian Mission in Tel Aviv to assume her duties.
In a statement released upon her arrival, Ufochukwu characterized her posting as “a new chapter” in diplomatic relations and expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian government for her appointment.
”I am humbled to arrive Tel Aviv as Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to the State of Israel,” Ufochukwu said. “I am excited for the work ahead in advancing Nigeria-Israel relations.”
The Ambassador-designate outlined her primary strategic goals for her tenure, stating that she will prioritize deepening bilateral collaboration between Nigeria and Israel. Her focus areas will include:
Trade and Economic Partnership
Technological Innovation
Security Cooperation
People-to-People and Cultural Relations
Part of Wider Diplomatic Deployment
Ufochukwu’s arrival in Tel Aviv is part of a coordinated, nationwide deployment of Nigeria’s new diplomatic corps.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Tinubu recently approved a total of 69 ambassadors-designate. To date, 65 of those envoys have successfully secured agrément (formal diplomatic clearance) from their respective host countries and have proceeded to their missions after completing an official government induction program.
The remaining four ambassadors-designate are still awaiting formal approval from their host nations.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed confidence that Ambassador Ufochukwu’s assumption of duty will further strengthen the long-standing diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the State of Israel.
