New JAMB Registrar Unveils Five-Pillar Reform Agenda, Targets Africa’s Most Trusted Admissions System
The newly appointed Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Segun Aina, on Tuesday unveiled a five year reform agenda centred on technology, institutional integrity and improved service delivery, setting an ambitious target of making the Board Africa’s most trusted, innovative and accessible assessment and admissions institution.
Assuming office, Prof. Aina launched the strategic blueprint, “JAMB 2031: Building Trust, Reducing Trauma,” a development plan for 2026–2031 built on the Project 2:5:7 Framework two strategic objectives, five strategic pillars and seven flagship initiatives designed to modernise the Board’s operations and strengthen public confidence.
Describing his appointment as “a homecoming and a solemn responsibility,” the new Registrar pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, by strengthening institutional systems, embracing innovation and enhancing service delivery.
According to a statement by Dr Fabian Benjamin,Acting Director, Public Affair and Protocol, Prof Aina said the agenda aligns with JAMB’s statutory mandate of ensuring fair, credible and equitable access to tertiary education through transparent registration, secure examinations and merit based admission processes.
He said the reform programme rests on five pillars: Integrity, to reinforce transparency and public trust through international standards and independent technology audits; Service, to improve customer experience and stakeholder engagement; Governance, to strengthen accountability and operational efficiency; Technology, to expand digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence and data driven service delivery; and Partnerships, to deepen collaboration with financial institutions, fintech firms, educational organisations and international partners.
To drive implementation, the Registrar announced seven flagship initiatives, including an independent review of JAMB’s technology infrastructure, attainment of ISO 27001 Information Security Certification, development of a unified JAMB mobile application, strategic brand repositioning, establishment of a unified customer service platform, deployment of a paperless enterprise wide digital administration system and enhanced staff welfare and capacity development.
He said the initiatives would improve operational efficiency, strengthen information security, deepen digital integration and boost public confidence in the Board’s activities.
Prof. Aina stressed that while technology would power JAMB’s transformation, people would remain at the heart of the institution’s mission.
“Every registration represents the aspirations of a young Nigerian and the sacrifices of parents and guardians,” he said, assuring candidates and other stakeholders that his administration would simplify processes, improve communication and uphold fairness, transparency and integrity.
He also urged members of staff to embrace innovation, professionalism and teamwork, saying lasting institutions are built on shared values rather than individuals.
The Registrar reaffirmed his commitment to building resilient systems that would outlive any administration and position JAMB as a global benchmark in technology driven examination and admissions administration.
