The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd.), says Nigeria’s security situation and national outlook are steadily improving due to the purposeful leadership and commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.General Musa made these remarks while speaking to journalists in Abuja following the official commissioning of the annex branch of Haam Legal Consult Services.According to the Minister, President Tinubu has consistently provided the Armed Forces of Nigeria with the necessary support to enhance their capacity to tackle insecurity across the country.
In a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Minister on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA, the Minister revealed that the Nigerian military is actively collaborating with United States counterparts and other international partners to combat ongoing security challenges.
While assuring citizens of the military’s tireless efforts to guarantee safety, General Musa emphasized that national security cannot be achieved by the military alone, describing it as a collective responsibility. He urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, report suspicious activities, and stop shielding criminal elements within their communities.”If all Nigerians decide today that there will be no more support for criminals, I can assure you that within one month, these security challenges would largely become things of the past,” General Musa said.
Addressing leadership and governance, the Minister stressed the importance of electing credible, visionary leaders who are passionate about national development rather than those with criminal inclinations.
He cautioned citizens against sentimental politics rooted in ethnicity or religion and warned against vote-selling.”We all travel outside the country and see how things work; it is all about leadership. Once we have purposeful leadership, things will change. Nigeria is changing,” he noted.General Musa also commended the founders of the newly commissioned law firm, particularly its Principal Partner and Special Assistant to the Minister of Defence, Barrister Aliyu Anas. He underscored the critical role of the rule of law, justice, and human rights in nation-building and economic growth.”Without law and order, humanity cannot thrive, and no nation can command respect if its laws are not obeyed. Even businesses cannot flourish in an environment where there is no respect for the rule of law,” the Minister added.Earlier in the event, the Head of Chambers at Haam Legal Consult Services, Barrister Abdulsalam Ibrahim, thanked the Minister for attending. He pledged that the firm would uphold the highest ethics of the legal profession, offering services in corporate registration, real estate, contract reviews, dispute resolution, and legal advisory services.
