The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has commended the Federal Government’s decision to recruit 1,000 forest guards, among other security measures, as part of efforts to rescue students and teachers abducted from two communities in Oyo State.
In a statement signed by its Chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary, Segun Ogedengbe, the group also acknowledged the recent visit of a high powered Federal Government delegation led by Femi Gbajabiamila to the affected communities as part of ongoing efforts to secure the release of the victims.
According to TMV, following the attack that sparked nationwide outrage and protests, President Bola Tinubu approved a series of measures aimed at ensuring the safe rescue of the kidnapped students and teachers and bringing the perpetrators to justice.
The measures include the immediate recruitment of 1,000 forest guards in collaboration with the state government, consideration for the establishment of a military outpost in the affected area, and the deployment of a specialized security unit to track and apprehend the kidnappers.
TMV stated that the President’s actions demonstrate empathy for the victims and reflect his administration’s commitment to safeguarding the lives and security of Nigerians.
The group further expressed confidence that while the measures are temporary, they could pave the way for the eventual establishment of state policing structures across the country.
The statement also praised President Tinubu’s stance that no child should be denied access to education or become a victim of kidnapping, describing it as a strong commitment to the welfare and protection of Nigerian children.
TMV urged Nigerians to regard security as a shared responsibility and support the Federal Government’s efforts to confront insecurity and criminal activities nationwide.
