TDF Knocks ADC Spokesman Over Fuel Price Criticism, Defends Tinubu Policies.

The Democratic Front (TDF) has criticised the National Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Bolaji Abdullahi, over his comments on rising fuel prices linked to the ongoing Middle East conflict, describing his position as “thoughtless.”

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Mallam Danjuma Muhammad, and Secretary, Chief Wale Adedayo, the group questioned the rationale behind blaming the administration of President Bola Tinubu for developments it said were beyond the government’s control.

TDF accused the ADC of lacking empathy for Nigerians, alleging that the party’s “desperation for power” had overshadowed concern for the country’s economic challenges.

The Group also faulted Abdullahi’s claim that Nigerians were still waiting for the delivery of the President’s Renewed Hope agenda, insisting that the administration’s policies were already yielding tangible results.

They further described Abdullahi’s stance as hypocritical, citing ongoing government initiatives such as student loan support through NELFUND and increased revenue allocations to states through the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC), which it said had strengthened sub-national governments’ capacity to deliver development projects.

TDF also referenced Abdullahi’s previous endorsement of NELFUND in a policy piece, arguing that his current criticism contradicts his earlier position.

Highlighting government efforts, the group pointed to investments in agriculture aimed at improving food security, as well as a reported decline in headline inflation. It also cited achievements in housing and healthcare, including the construction of over 15,000 housing units, training of more than 60,000 frontline health workers, expanded health insurance coverage, and increased budgetary allocation to the health sector.

The statement also took aim at Abdullahi’s past role as a minister under former President Goodluck Jonathan, criticising that administration’s economic management and policy outcomes.

TDF urged the ADC spokesperson to refrain from what it described as “campaigns of calumny,” arguing that such actions would not benefit the opposition party.
