Accord Leaders Pass Vote Of Confidence In National Chairman, Back Adeleke for Osun Governorship Poll
Leaders of the Accord Party have passed a vote of confidence in the party’s National Chairman, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, commending what they described as his visionary and transformative leadership, which they said has driven significant growth within the party.
The endorsement came on Thursday, July 16, during a solidarity visit by Accord State Chairmen and National Officers to the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja.
According to a statement by Joseph Omorogbe, National Publicity Secretary, Accord has expanded its political profile under Mgbudem’s leadership, attracting prominent political figures, including Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, as well as a senator, members of the House of Representatives, members of State Houses of Assembly, and other candidates ahead of the 2027 general election.
The leaders also expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.
They urged residents of the state to vote en masse for the incumbent governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, whom they said had performed creditably during his first term and deserved a second term to consolidate his administration’s achievements in economic development, security, infrastructure, and unity.
They further called on Nigerians to identify with the Accord Party and support its candidates in the 2027 general election, saying the party remains committed to inclusive governance.
Responding, the National Chairman, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, thanked the State Chairmen and National Officers for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to justify their trust.
He called on party members to remain united and committed to strengthening Accord as a national political platform, adding that he remained open to constructive advice aimed at repositioning the party for greater success.
Mgbudem urged members to focus on mobilising support for Accord candidates in forthcoming elections and advised them to ignore what he described as anti-democratic forces seeking to create divisions within the party because of its growing acceptance across the country.
The national chairman also encouraged members with grievances to utilise the party’s internal mechanisms and alternative dispute resolution channels, in line with the party’s constitution, assuring them that all issues would be resolved amicably in the overall interest of the party.
He reiterated that Accord members would participate in all forthcoming elections as one family, expressing confidence that Nigerians would support the party’s vision of competent, compassionate leadership and good governance.
