The National Population Commission (NPC) has assured Nigerians of its commitment to conduct a reliable and acceptable 2022 Census. NPC Chairman, Hon Nasir Kwarra, stated this while declaring open a 2 day Retreat on media/public relations and public speaking Techniques for Chairman and Federal Commissioners of of the commission in Karu, Nasarawa State.
He described the retreat as apt saying it is coming at a time the commission is embarking on advocacy tours across the country to key stakeholders in preparation for the next census.
The NPC boss who emphasized on the role of the media to achieving a credible census said the retreat is targeted at building the capacity of the participants to get the people involved in the exercise.
He further indicated the efforts of the commission to get it right as it relates to resolve contending issues often associated with the conduct of precious census exercise.
Earlier, the acting Chairman, Public Affairs Committee, Prof Uba Nnabue, said constant advocacy, public relations and engagement of stakeholders with the right and timely information constitute integral components of the 2022 census strategy.
The theme of the workshop is” 2022 census – Getting People Involved.
