WHO Certifies NAFDAC On Drugs Regulations.

The World Health Organization WHO has upgraded the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, to maturity level three in drug regulations. NAFDAC Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja.

She said the journey to achieve the new status which started in January 2018 is WHO benchmark recommendation for Nigeria to commence vaccine manufacturing among others.

The Nafdac boss further explained that WHO Global benchmarking is about comparing regulatory agencies that work to carry out tasks pertaining to the best health regulatory agency in the world.

For Prof Adeyeye,it is not yet uhuru as Nafdac is ever poised to achieve greater success especially as it relates to level four (4) maturity status. President of the Pharmaceutical Council of Nigeria,Cyril osifo,on his part joined other stakeholders to commend Nafdac for the giant strides attained. Components of the four maturity status indicates that when attained products approved by NAFDAC will be traded globally.
