The swearing-in of the Senator Abdullahi Adamu led All Progressive Congress’ National Working Committee marks a new dawn in the party.
The action also symbolized the end of the Governor Mai Mala Buni led Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee which came into being in mid 2020 after the removal of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole and his team from office.
Speaking after officially taking the mantle of leadership, the new APC National Chairman, Senator, Abdullahi Adamu said his leadership will work hard towards reconciling aggrieved parties. He said healing all wounds will help in strengthening the ruling party to retain power in 2023.
Senator Abdullahi also emphasised that there was need for members to renew their faith in the party, its leadership and constitution at all levels for the sanctity of the party.
Earlier, Chairman of the defunct Caretaker Committee of the APC and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni said the committee was a child of circumstance constituted by the National Executive Committee (NEC), to restructure and reposition the party at a critical period of its existence.
The one time Nasarawa State Governor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu was President Muhammadu Buhari’s preferred candidate and endorsed by the President long before the convention.
Report has it that President Buhari prevailed on six other contestants to step down for the National Chairman and that demand was respected.
