A Civil Rights Group under the auspices of Vanguard for Transparent Leadership and Democracy VATLAD has called on President Mohammadu Buhari not to bow to pressure to sign the electoral amendment bill.
Speaking at a one day interactive session on the state of the nation and the way forward Organised by VATLAD in Abuja, it’s president, comrade Emmanuel Igbini cited relevant session of the law that excludes the executive arm of government from making laws for the federation.
He opined that such pressure should be extended to the National Assembly who are backed by law to perform such duties.
Igbini who took time to analyze some of the challenges bedeviling the nation’s critical Sectors including insecurity called for urgent constitution of government of national unity.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina commended the organiser for being objective on the state of affairs in Nigeria.
Also, the Chairman, Peoples Democratic party caucus in the House of Representatives, Hon Kingsley Chinda on his part called for immediate resignation of president Buhari for failure to deliver on Promises made to Nigerians.
Other highlights of the occasion includes the need for Nigerians to support policies and programmes of government for peaceful coexistence in Nigeria.
