Reactions have continued to trail last Saturday’s federal capital territory area council election with calls on the Independent National Electoral Commission to carry out a comprehensive audit of the bimodal voter accreditation system BVAS and ensure all the technological glitches with the device are resolved ahead of the Ekiti and Osun Governorship election.
Addressing newsmen in Abuja, at a joint briefing to unveil it’s preliminary report on the election, Executive Director,Yiaga Africa Samson Itodo said the call was necessary due to the operational deficiencies that characterized the conduct of the poll.
The CSO further highlighted other short comings to include late deployment of election materials,poor distribution of PWDs assistive materials,uneven allocation of voters to polling units.
Itodo however reel out some recommendations Yiaga Africa believes could improve the nation’s electoral process
. Also at the briefing,the Albino Foundation and Inclusive Friends Association also raised concerns over the inability of PWDs to access polling units.
The joint organisations commended the people of the FCT for their resilience to vote despite cases of challenges saying that is the way to go ahead of the 2023 general elections.
