The Federal Capital Territory Area council election may have come and gone but lessons learnt, the Centre for Transparency Advocacy CTA says is relevant to improving the nation’s electoral process.
The CTA is among the several Civil society organizations accredited by the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to observe the area council elections.
Addressing a news conference to unveil it’s preliminary report on the election, the Group Executive Director, Faith Nwadishi raised concerns over reported cases of BVAS malfunctioning which to some extent slowed down the the voting process.
She expressed optimism that the INEC Leadership will take steps to improve the performance of the device in subsequent elections.
Nwadishi further commended INEC official’s for living up to expectation especially in polling units with massive turnout of voters.
She however called on the electoral umpire to allocate more persons to newly created units. Why the group commended Security agencies for professional conduct,it also lambasted political parties for engaging in vote buying and selling in some polling units.
