FCT Council Elections: CTA Deploys 151 Observers,Commends Buildup Process.

As the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) makes last minute preparation for the Federal Capital Territory Area council election,3 National Commissioners and 6 Resident Electoral Commissioners have been deplored to oversee the exercise.

Commending the development, the Centre for Transparency Advocacy at a news conference to declare open it’s election situation room says it will count towards delivery a credible election that will reflect the wishes of the people.

CTA Executive Director, Faith Nwadishi however advocated reasons why the electoral body should back it’s promises with action in efforts to ensure the poll is a further improvement to what transpired in the last Anambra Governorship election.

Nwadishi who also applauded the peaceful disposition by political parties and their supporters in the build up to the election also warned security agencies not to loose guard especially in manning already identified flash points within the FCT.

The Group further explained reasons why the peace accord as initiated by INEC and siged by the respective parties should be adhered to. The CTA says it is deploying 150 field observers to monitor Saturday’s 12th February area council poll schedule to hold in 2,922 polling units across the FCT.

It also urged President Buhari to sign the amended electoral act bill into law.
