The Nigerian Military has been grabbling for years in finding lasting solution to the dwindling security situation in the country. Some of the task ahead of the military is the elimination of the Boko-Haram ISWAP terrorists gruop, banditry, kidnapping, Oil bunkering among other crimes. To get the job done, the military in its diverse operations adopted the use of kinetic and non-kinetic methods. As part of its non-kinetic approaches, the Chief of Defence Staff, General, Lucky Irabor who met with Media Executives, Bureau Chiefs and Editors at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja said all hands must be on deck to achieve the desired results. The Defence Chief while advising the participants on the management of National Security and Conflict Sensitive Communication said the military and the media pursue a common cause for freedom and liberty as such, have the mandate to build not to destroy the nation. One of the participants spoke on their expectations. The theme of the meeting which later went into close door is “The role of Media Executives and Editors in National Security and Conflict Sensitive Communication” is part of the non-Kinetic approach to complement the kinetic operations of the military.
