About 50 widows of fallen heroes and 400 spouses of Non-Commissioned Officers of the Armed Forces have benefited from the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) humanitarian gesture of food distribution at the DEPOWA Secretariat, Abuja. Presenting the items to the widows, President of DEPOWA, Barr Vickie Irabor said the gesture is in accordance with the Association’s mandate to reach out to the less privilege. Barr Irabor who lamented the agony and pains the widows go through due to the sacrifices made by their late husbands for peace and unity of the country assured that DEPOWA will continue to remember them. The DEPOWA president further urged the widows to ensure that they use the food items to celebrate the yuletide season with their children. Items distributed includes bags of rice, cartons of noddles, tubers of yam, vegetable oil, among others.
