The National President of the Medical and Health Workers Union comrade Biobelemoye Josiah has advised the federal ministry of health against tendencies that could jeopardize the industrial harmony in the nation’s health sector.
Comrade Josiah issued the warning at the 48th Session of the National Executive Council of the Union in Abuja. He said the union will resist any attempt to initiate discriminative practices in the sector saying it negates the concept of a health worker by the World Health Organization.
The MHWUN President further spoke on ongoing negotiation with the federal government relating to COVID 19 hazard allowance and upward review of hazard allowance for health workers saying the needful should be done as soon as possible. The Union also expressed reservation of calls for privatization of the health sector.
Earlier in his goodwill message, the President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Ayuba Wabba kicked against conspiracies to remove subsidy of Petrol motor spirit saying it will be resisted by the Masses.
The Labour union further called on the government to fix the nation’s four refineries, a gesture it noted will restore sanity in the system.
