Vice President Yemi Osibanjo, has called on Nigerians to shun the various conspiracy theories of the Covid 19 vaccines and get vaccinated to be protected from the deadly virus. This is as the nation’s number 2 citizen further assured that Nigeria was expecting additional 42.5m vaccine doses through Covax facility, AU, UK and other sources donations which he said will be able to vaccinate about 35.8m persons representing about 32.9% eligible population inline with the national vaccine deployment plan. Osibanjo gave the indication at the occasion of the International Conference On Health Access Beyond Covid 19 held in Abuja Organised by the National Institute for Pharmaceutical Research and Development NIPRD. He said the world must come together and ensure general vaccine accessibility to be able to defeat the pandemic, why insisting on plans to support NIPRD by advocating for more research and development funding to enable the agency achieved it’s mandate for producing pharmaceuticals from trial resources to assure medicine security. Osibanjo further lauded the contribution of NIPRD to combat the menace of the pandemic especially in the production of standardized hand sanitizers as well as made the technology publicly accessible for mass production. Earlier, the Director General of NIPRD, Dr Obi Adigwe, reeled out some of the interventions of the agency as part of the immediate national response to combating the covid 19 pandemic. He said the multidisciplinary multi-sectoral stakeholders international conference was put in place in the quest to initiate strategies for handling future pandemic in a way that is ethical functional for the benefit of humanity.
