Indications from the Defence headquarters suggest that over 5,890 terrorists comprising of foot soldiers and their commanders surrendered with their families to troops of operation Hadin Kai in the North East Zone . Giving an update on various troops operations across board from 12 August to 2 September 2021, Acting Director Defence Media Operations Brigadier General Bernard Onyeuko attributed the feat to counter insurgency operations deployed by the military. He said a total of 565 Boko Haram Terrorists comprising of three (3) commanders, 4 Amirs, 5 Nakibs and 5 cattle rustling specialists, out of the surrendered BHTs and their family members were handed over to the Borno State Government in Maiduguri for further management after thorough profiling. However, 48 others including 15 armed bandits, 2 armed robbers were neutralized in other operations in the North East and North West zone respectively. As expected,the recent attacks in Rukuba Town,North LGA of Plateau state was played up at the briefing with General Onyeuko saying 20 persons have so far been arrested. Other highlights involving troops of operation Delta safe was also mentioned with a total of 46 illegal refining units, 94 boiler ovens and 9 reservoirs discovered and deactivated in the South South Zone. Applauding the efforts of the various troops operations,the Defence spokesman used the opportunity to solicit the support of all Nigerians in the fight against insurgency and other criminal activities, saying the military alongside other security agencies are determined to restore peace and order in all conflict zones across the country.
