A Civil Society Group under the aegis of Anambra Restoration Movement has staged a peaceful protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Abuja against the candidacy of Charles Soludo. Soludo, a former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria is the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA in the November 6, 2021, governorship election in Anambra state. Armed with their placards bearing different inscriptions, the group alleged that Soludo perpetrated worst corruption when he was in charge of CBN and therefore unfit to be a candidate of any political party. According to the Publicity Secretary of the group, Goodness Chioma the people of Anambra state cannot risk having Soludo as their governor without him first accounting for his deeds as CBN governor. Apart from asking INEC to exclude Soludo’s name on its final list of candidates for the election, the group also wants the anti graft agencies to prosecute the APGA candidate for alleged corruption.
