The crisis rocking the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party took a new twist after its National Chairman, Uche Secondus resumed office but was not allowed to attend or preside over the party’s National Caucus Meeting. As early as 10am after securing the order of Kebbi High Court that reinstated him, the embattled national chairman emerged in his office at the party’s national Secretariat in Abuja preparatory for the party’s national caucus meeting. But Secondus was conspicuously missing as the acting national chairman presided over the meeting. Responding to a question on why the embattled national chairman was absent, the chairman, PDP Governors’ Forum, Aminu Tambuwal said the party was yet to receive the service of the court order. He also disclosed that the meeting constituted a panel headed by former President of the Senate, David Mark to interface with aggrieved members that have court cases with a view to withdrawing all of them. Former Nigeria’s Vice President, Atiku Abubakar expressed confidence that the party will resolve the crisis amicably. Part of the resolutions reached at the end of the meeting is that recommendation from the National Working Committee for the national convention of the party to be held between Friday 30th to Saturday 31st of October will be determined by the National Executive Council.
