As part of measures to deepen the fight against corruption in Nigeria, a non governmental organization, African Centre for Media and Information Literacy (AFRICMIL) has trained select journalists on protection of whistleblowers. The Coordinator of AFRICMIL, Chido Onumah, who was represented at the event in Abuja tasked the journalists on entrenching the culture of speaking up against wrongdoing in the country. He further disclosed that the purpose of the training was also to promote media and information literacy that will enhance democracy, good governance and accountability. Speaking on the International Good Practices on Reporting Whistleblowing and the safety of Whistleblowers, a resource person, Abdulaziz Abdulaziz urged journalists to always adhere to the ethics of the profession at all times. The federal government had initiated the whistleblower Policy as part of measures to strengthen to the fight against financial crimes and corruption in the country.
