There is no doubt that the Prof Mahmud Yakubu led Independent National Electoral Commission INEC has recorded giant strides in its efforts to reposition the nation’s Electoral process. This time around, the Commission successfully created 56,872 polling units across the country. The last time polling units were created in the nation’s political history was 25 years ago. This development however implies that Nigeria presently have 176,846 polling units. At a meeting with Resident Electoral Commissioners held at it’s headquarters in Abuja, INEC Chairman Prof Mahmud Yakubu indicated how 746 polling units were removed from what he described as inappropriate facilities. The INEC boss was also quick to disclose when the polling units will become effective. Other highlights of the meeting includes announcement of June 18 and July 16,2022 Ekiti and Osun Governorship Elections.
