Media Practitioners have been urged to exercise their mandate in promotion of peaceful coexistence in the country. This is inview of rising security concerns , a factor largely considered for Nigeria’s present ranking as one of the member clubs of 10 top kidnapping countries on the world. Addressing a news conference in Abuja, President Nigeria Union of Journalist (NUJ) Chief Chris Isiguzo expressed worry over indications of ongoing national politics to divide the nation and called on the media to lead on the fight against such negative tendencies. Isiguzo further stress on the indication of such challenges insisting that it is the priority of government to change the narrative. The union also disclosed plans to convene a three day summit in Port Harcourt Rivers State from June 6th to 8th 2021 with the theme; The Media, Insecurity and National unity.
