Another INEC Office Set Ablaze In Imo
Another office of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Njaba local government area of Imo state has again been set ablaze. Disclosing this in a statement, INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye expressed sadness over the development stating that it may compromise the conduct of credible Elections. Information from the state Resident Electoral Commissioner Professor Francis Ezeonu, according to Okoye indicates that no life was lost as the building was substantially burnt down, along with electoral materials, office equipment and furniture. He added that the incident has been reported to the Police for investigation. It would be recalled that the attack is coming a week after another of the commissions office in Ahiazu Mbaise Local Government Area of the State was vandalized on Sunday 23rd May 2021. The development makes it the 8th INEC office to be attacked in Imo State since the 2019 General Election.
