FOB’s Will Tackle Menace Of Cross Border Banditry- Babandede

In efforts to continuously cover border areas taken by irregular migrants, the Nigeria Immigration Service(NIS) has commissioned Another Forward Operation Base(FOB) at Afaha Offiong in Akwa Ibom State on 18th February 2021.

A signed statement by the Service Public Rations Officer, DCI James Sunday made available to Channel Network Afrique indicates that the Service under the leadership of the Comptroller General, Muhammad Babandede has made the constructions of Forward Operation Bases part of it’s commitment to address infrastructural needs of the Service.

While commissioning the FOB,the Immigration boss said it will enable the Service address its challenges in combating the menace of cross border banditry including smuggling of migrants (SOMs) and trafficking in persons (TIPs).

Babandede who described the project as a laudable border security intervention of the service said 13 FOB’s have so far been commissioned across the country.

He further restated commitment to visit every location where the NIS formations are located to feel their pulse and address issues personally not delegating anyone.

“It is my duty to visit my operatives wherever they are stationed as a sign of good leadership” he said.
