Brace Up With Innovations To Quicken The Nation’s Industrialization Process- Onu

Indigenous Engineers and Scientists have been challenged to brace up with innovations that will quicken the industrialisation process of the nation.
Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu gave the indication when he received in the audience  the President of Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Babagana Muhammed ( FNSE) in his office on Tuesday in Abuja.
In a signed statement by the Ministry Principal Information Officer, Ifeoma Irondi, Dr Onu commended Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) for their immense contributions towards nation building and human development especially in areas of providing scholarships to indigents Science Students in the Country.
He stressed that the nation’s industrialisation process has not been working fast due to weak technological base adding that the Executive order 5 signed by President Mohammadu Buhari with target to bring the Nigerian Engineers and scientists to the centre of the country’s economic activities would be sustained.
Oni further stated that the ministry is determined to accelerate and harness the industrialization process in the Country,saying that new knowledge is coming up and it is important that indigenous engineers be acquainted with it.
The Minister called on the Energy Commission of Nigeria (ECN) and The National Science Engineering and Infrastructure (NASENI) to work in synergy to bring an end to power problems in the country.
Earlier, the President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Babagana Mohammed (FNSE) said the NSE have created an advocacy  platform for exploration and harnessing of regional resources endowment for rapid regional economic development through collaborations amongst Government, Academia, and industry in each region.
He also enumerated many other intervention efforts of the society such as supporting the Federal Government in its effort to fight and curb the spread of CoronaVirus pandemic in the country.
