NIS Begins Issuance Of E- Passport At Festac Office

The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede has flagged off the seventh (7th) passport office, upgraded to issue enhanced passport at FESTAC passport centre, Lagos on 22nd December, 2020.

The CGI was represented by the Zonal Coordinator,Zone A, Lagos Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Doris Braimah.

A signed statement by the service Public Relations Officer, DCI James Sunday made available to Channel Network Afrique indicates that with the enhanced passport, applicants are expected to apply online,pay online and approach the passport office with evidence of payment and a National Identity Number issued by NIMC and be Enrolled for their choice passport booklet either a 32 Page 5year, 64 Page 5Year, 64Page 10year all in the interest of Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora.

The CGI who was represented by the Zonal Coordinator,Zone A, Lagos Assistant Comptroller General of Immigration Service, Doris Braimah stated that the Service wants all passport applicants to Shun touts and ensure they pay online and not cash to help fight touting in all passport offices across the Country.

According to the NIS Spokesman, the FESTAC Passport Centre will be under Deputy Comptroller Adeola Adesokan, a versatile and articulate officer, who transformed the FESTAC Passport office within the first two months of resumption, curbing all acts of corruption associated with extra charges and touting by third party influence that has dented the service image overtime.

The NIS further stated that it is attaining global recognition with partnership from International development partners like the International Organisation for Migration (IOM),Koica,Swiss government,Kingdom of Netherlands, Spain among others to emplace a global Migration Service in Africa.
