The ruling All Progressive Congress has field a suit before a federal high court on Abuja against Edo state For Governor, Godwin Obaseki over alleged certificate forgery. The party field an originating summons alleging that the Bachelor of Arts certificate in classical studies obtained by Obaseki from the University of Ibadan was forged. The APC noted that the act is contrary to section 182 subsection 1 of the1999 constitution which disqualifies the Governor from contesting the September 19, Edo state Governorship election. The ruling party also want the court to make an order directing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove Governor Obaseki’s name from the list of nominated candidates for the poll.
