This protest by some aggrieved lawyers against the new electronic mailing system of the Corporate Affairs Commission could not deterred the management from implementation. As the Corporate Affairs Commission will from August 10 commence full implementation of an electronic system for registration of companies. CAC Registrar-General, Garba Abubakar, said this at a news conference in Abuja while reeling out some key reforms being implemented under his leadership to curtail the spread of the novel corona virus pandemic. He said with the new measures, company registration certificates would henceforth be sent to customers through courier services or electronically to avoid physical contact with clients. Alhaji Abubakar also explained that the electronic mailing system would help to speed up the registration process as well as protect the integrity of documents issued by the commission. He said based on global best practice, the process of company registrations are done electronically without physical presence, adding that the era where lawyers storm the Commission to conduct such transactions was over. The Registrar General also noted that the commission has gotten approval for the purchase of laptops for it staff below level 14 to enable them do their work from home as only skeletal services would be carried out in its office environment.
