Adebayo Lauds Buhari On Appointment of New NEPZA MD, Adesugba
President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed professor Adesoji Adesugba as the Managing Director, Nigeria Export Processing Zones Authority, NEPZA.
The appointment which was conveyed to newsmen said the chief of staff to the president, professor Ibrahim Gambari signed the letter addressed to the minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Richard Adeniyi Adebayo.
A statement by the Media Assistant to the minister quoted him as commending the president for the appointment.
He expressed confidence over the choice of Adesugba following his wealth of experience coupled with his academic exposure to facilitate the attainment of NEPZA’s core mandate.
Adebayo urged the new appointee to pilot the affairs of the agency with transparency and open-door policy that will accelerate Federal Government’s target for economic zones across the country, especially in the area of job creation.
He also charged him to improve on the legacies of his predecessors and carry the staff along in the day-to-day running of the agency.
Prof. Adesugba, an accomplished specialist in Investment Promotion and Economic Development, is a lawyer and a professor of Business Administration at the Rogate College, Dublin, Ireland, with long years of experience in the private sector development and institutional reforms.
Until his appointment, he was the Legal Adviser to the National Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture (NACCIMA). He also lectured Investment Promotion at the Baden International Business School, Switzerland and is a visiting Professor at the American University of West Africa, Banjul Gambia.
The appointment is coming several months after the erstwhile acting managing director, Engineer Terhemba Nongo retired after attaining the age of sixty. The former general manager, finance and accounts, Mr. Dawuk has been in acting capacity since the retirement of the former Managing Director.
