Over $1bn Invested In Nigeria Auto Sector, Imports Take $8bn – Jelani

Since the National Automotive Industry Development Plan came into effect in 2013, over one billion United States dollars has been invested in the sector. The Director-General, National Automotive Design and Development Council, Jelani Aliyu, who disclosed this in Abuja at the unveiling of vehicles manufactured or assembled in Nigeria said the investment in the sector had resulted in the creation of over fifty thousand direct and indirect jobs. He said the desire by most Nigerians for imported vehicle instead of the indigenously assembled always cost the country over eight billion United States dollars annually.
