The Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, has commenced the establishment of innovation hubs in 45 tertiary institutions across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to strengthen research, drive innovation and promote enterprise development.
The initiative is aimed at transforming tertiary institutions into centres of research and development, where academics can develop home-grown solutions to societal challenges and contribute to national economic growth.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of Cohort 34 of the Research for Impact Initiative in Abuja, the Director of Monitoring and Evaluation, Architect Babatunde Olajide, who represented TETFund Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, said the hubs would provide facilities for researchers to translate knowledge and innovative ideas into practical solutions.
The Deputy General Manager of Innov8 Technology Hub, Deji Ige, described the partnership with TETFund as a significant step towards strengthening research, innovation and enterprise creation in Nigeria’s tertiary education system.

The two week Research for Impact programme exposes participants to practical innovation facilities, research development techniques and expert mentorship to help transform ideas into solutions, products and viable enterprises.
