The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says its maintenance crew is working to restore power supply to parts of Abuja following a fault on the 33kV NIPP feeder at the Kubwa 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
The fault, which occurred at 9:39am on Sunday, September 20, 2026, tripped the feeder on earth fault.
According to TCN, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) maintenance team subsequently patrolled the feeder and certified it fit for restoration.
However, when attempts were made to restore the feeder at 6:34pm, it tripped again on overcurrent and earth fault, damaging the blue phase interrupter head of the feeder circuit breaker.
The development has prevented AEDC from off taking bulk electricity for customers in FO1, Dantata Estate, Byazhin, Byazhin Across and Gbazango areas.
TCN said its maintenance crew is working assiduously to complete repairs on the faulty breaker and restore bulk power supply to AEDC.
The company regretted the inconvenience caused by the outage and assured affected electricity consumers that supply would be restored as soon as the repair work is completed.
