The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced an emergency maintenance exercise at its 330/132/33kV Katampe Transmission Substation in Abuja to address an oil leakage problem on one of its transformers.

According to the company, the maintenance work commenced at 10 a.m. on Saturday and is expected to be completed by 7 p.m. the same day.
TCN said the exercise is necessary to enable its maintenance crew seal the oil leakage and ensure the continued reliable operation of the transformer.

The company noted that some transmission circuits will be impacted during the maintenance period. As a result, the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive power supply from some feeders serving customers connected to the affected transformer.

TCN did not specify the areas that would be affected but said electricity consumers supplied through the impacted feeders may experience temporary power interruptions during the maintenance period.

The transmission company apologised for the inconvenience and assured the public that efforts were being made to complete the work as scheduled and restore normal operations.
