A civil advocacy group, the Police Integrity Organisation, has called for the immediate arrest of social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM) following allegations surrounding his possession of a confidential document.
The demand was made by the convener of the organisation, Isaiah David-Ijele, during a media briefing in Abuja themed “Setting the Record Straight on the Nigerian Police vs VeryDarkMan Ongoing Nuisance.”
Speaking at the press conference, David-Ijele expressed growing concern over constitutional authority, adherence to legal procedures, and the preservation of institutional decorum within the country’s legal and law enforcement framework.
He maintains that arresting VDM for handling confidential materials is necessary to set a firm precedent, protect sensitive materials, and ensure individuals respond to formal invitations through proper legal channels rather than social media.
On the alleged media attack on former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Assistant Inspector General of Police, Jimoh Moshood by VDM, the group said the police officer was followed globally accepted standard procedure in carrying out his duties.
The group however, promised not to back off on the demand until justice is served.
