Foreign Affairs Ministry Names Richard Elesho, Raphael Oni As Strategic Media Aides

The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, has approved the appointment of a new media team to bolster communication of the Ministry’s mandate and the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

​The announcement was contained in an official statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa.

​According to the statement, Mr. Richard Elesho has been appointed as Special Assistant on Media and Strategic Communications, while Mr. Raphael Oni assumes the role of Special Assistant on Digital and Public Diplomacy.

​Both appointees bring extensive backgrounds in journalism, public affairs, media management, and government communications to their new roles.

​Mr. Elesho, an alumnus of Delta State University, Abraka, and Kogi State University, Anyigba, previously served as Chief Press Secretary and Director General of Media Affairs to former Kogi State Governors Alhaji Ibrahim Idris and Capt. Idris Wada. Prior to his current appointment, he was the North Central Bureau Chief for The News/PM News.

​Mr. Oni is a diplomatic reporting specialist and award-winning photojournalist with over 15 years of experience in public diplomacy and international relations.

He holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Abuja and has served as the publisher of Diplomats Extra Magazine since 2013.

His previous leadership roles include serving two terms as Secretary-General of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Nigeria (DICAN) and as former Secretary-General of the NUJ Correspondents Chapel in Abuja.

​The Ministry expressed optimism for a productive working relationship with the new appointees and called on stakeholders to support the media team in executing its duties.
