NUC Receives €3m FDA Loan For ICT Projects In Universities.

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has received €3 million as the first tranche of the $40 million loan secured from the French Development Agency (AFD) to support Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development in 10 selected universities across Nigeria.

The Executive Secretary of the Commission, Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, disclosed this during the inaugural meeting of the 13th NUC Board held at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja.

Prof. Ribadu highlighted that since assuming office nearly a year ago, the Commission has advanced several initiatives focused on research, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and skills development within the university system.



The NUC boss further assured the Board of the Commission’s full cooperation, noting that the management is eager to tap into the members’ wealth of knowledge and expertise.


In his remarks, the Chairman of the 13th NUC Board, Emeritus Professor Oluremi Raphael Aina outlined five strategic pillars that will guide the Board’s work, emphasizing the commitment to strengthening the Commission’s operations through technology-driven approaches.


The newly inaugurated Board is expected to play a pivotal role in steering reforms aimed at enhancing quality, innovation, and global competitiveness in Nigerian universities.
