NSCDC Forms Alliance With Immigration Services For Enhanced Service Delivery In FCT

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), says the Command will continue to foster ties with the immigration services to enhance optimal service delivery in the FCT.

The Commandant, NSCDC, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command Olusola Odumosu, disclosed this when he received in audience the FCT Comptroller of Immigration, CIS Sharifat Ronke Ibrahim, in his office at Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.

In a statement signed by the Command’s acting Spokesperson, DSC Monica Ojobi and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA, the Commandant said “I resumed office to meet a robust synergy with immigration services, coming from the same ministry , though we have different roles, we have the same goal of protecting lives and properties as well as territorial borders of the country, it is my desire that this synergy continues”.

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC has as it’s mandate to protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, licence and monitor private guards companies, Disaster management, Agro rangers, our specialized unit, responsible for the protection of the agro allied industry, we are always ready to partner with sister agencies to ensure we succeed in our given national assignment, Odumosu stated.

“I am proud to say that there has been no inter agency rivalry since I assumed office, I am working closely with the commissioner of police, DSS, Correctional , Fire service etc , I know you coming on board, you will leverage on the already exciting relationship”.

The Commandant said, the Corps will always have area of collaboration with the immigration services coming from the same parent ministry and urged the comptroller to always avail the Command with intelligence information for easy operation.

He commended the leadership of the Immigration Services for turning around the fortune of the service in the FCT, he urged the Comptroller to feel free to open up new areas she wants partnership with the Command.

“We are willing to collaborate with your agency to boost security in the FCT, we are ready to continue to build upon the existing relationship between the two agencies that is why when ever we arrest foreign nationals mining illegally, we hand them over to you for profiling to ascertain the authenticity of their visas.

Earlier, the FCT Comptroller of Immigration CIS Sharifat Ronke Ibrahim, lauded the FCT Commandant for the collaboration and support the service has being receiving from the Command.

CIS Ibrahim, disclosed that Immigration has gone digital in every aspect of their services, adding that Nigerians can use their phones from the comfort of the houses to apply for passport stating that with time people will have access to do biometrics with their phones.She however requested that the support and synergy be sustained for better results.

Highlight of the visit was the presentation of a commemoration plaque to the Comptroller of Immigration by the FCT Commandant.
