The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has faulted a report credited to Amnesty International, warning that it could incite sectarian tensions in the country .
It would be recalled Amnesty International recently released a report which claimed that more than 10,000 people have died in violent incidents since the current administration assumed office, including nearly 7,000 fatalities in Benue State and over 2,600 in Plateau State.
Reacting to the development in a news conference in Abuja, CNG’s National Coordinator, Comrade Jamilu Charanchi disputed the credibility of the figures, accusing the organization of bias.
Charanchi further chided the international rights group refusal to acknowledge the federal government’s gains in combating insecurity in some parts of the country.
The Group on the way forward called on the federal government to ban Amnesty International and other like mind organizations, insisting that their operations may do more harm than good to the country.
