The European Union is formulating a dialogue framework on trade with Nigeria to consolidate its position in the country.
The EU’s move is to up its position as Nigeria’s leading trade and investment partner, highlighting a robust economic relationship valued at €35 billion in total trade in 2023.
The new EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot who disclosed this at his maiden news conference in Abuja, said, Nigeria remains the EU’s largest trading partner in Africa, accounting for 28% of its total trade, leading to sustainable development, job creation, and economic growth.
Ambassador Mignot also spoke on the crisis in ECOWAS.
And the European Union’s position on Ukraine Russian war, on the heels of Donald Trump’s Presidency.
The EU Ambassador to Nigeria however, underscored the union’s commitment to tackling in northern part of the country, foster entrepreneurship as well as enhance peace and security.
He concluded by calling on the Diplomatic Correspondents’ Association, (DICAN) and the media at large to join efforts in combating Misinformation and Misperceptions.
