The National Population Commission has commenced the training of Interviewers for the 2024 Nigeria Verbal and Social Autopsy (VASA) Study.
NPC Chairman, Hon. Isa kwarra who disclosed this at the opening ceremony of the training program held in Akwanga, Nasarawa State, said the survey will provide up-to-date information on early childhood mortality rate, estimation of the prevalence and determination of death of a live-born infant within the first 28 days of life.
He added that the exercise will complement existing efforts aimed at improving the lives of women and children in Nigeria.
The NPC boss further highlighted arrangements put in place to ensure a hitch free survey.
The 2024 VASA Survey is expected to provide valuable insights into the major causes of under-five mortality in Nigeria.
