The Nigeria’s government has engaged in high-level conversation with the Foreign Ministers of Sweden, Finland, Iceland, and representatives from Norway and Denmark on how to deepened the longstanding relationship with the Nordic countries, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar who led the discussion in Abuja said the relationship will enhance trade, technology transfer especially the country’s ongoing efforts to shift towards renewable energy sources.
Ambassador, Tuggar also raised concerns about a Biafra agitator Simon Ekpa with Finland which the country addressed “vociferously.”
Speaking on their mission, the Nordic Ministers said Nigeria is key in not just the ECOWAS subregion but major partner in global affairs.
They promised to expand the frontier of their cooperation with Nigeria. The Nordic delegation include, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Sweden, Tobias Billström; Minister for Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen; Minister for Foreign Affairs of Iceland; Thórdís Kolbrún; the State Secretary for International Development, Norway, Bjørg Sandkjær, and Under Secretary for Foreign Policy, Denmark, Eva Marie Frida Barløse.
