A Civil Society Organizations under the aegis of Guardian of Democracy and Development has call on the Independent National Electoral Commission to sanction the National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, Engr. Yabagi Sani over alleged offence of forgery and perjury.
The group led a protest to the Headquarters of INEC in Abuja, to demand for sanction and subsequent prosecution of the alleged offenders.
Speaking, Comrade Igwe Ude- Umanta, alleged that Engr. Yabagi Sani connived with the National Secretary of the party Victor Fingesi to forged a death certificate of Hon. Musa Muhammad Ali, ADP House of Representatives candidate for Nasarawa Federal Constituency, Kano State in the 2023 general elections.
Comrade Ude-Umanta while urging INEC to dissociate itself from the crime, called on the electoral umpire to severally sanction as well as prosecute the perpetrators to serve as deterrence said the forged document was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in order to replace the real candidate.
On his part, ADP House of Representatives candidate for Nasarawa Federal Constituency of Kano State, Musa Muhammad Ali, said the alleged betrayal by leaders of his party has cost him his self-esteem.
The group however, disclosed that relevant documents attached to the petition have been submitted to INEC.
