The New Nigeria Political Party has called on the National Judicial Council to probe the alleged discrepancies in the certified true copy of the judgement of the court of Appeal in the Kano Governorship election petition.
Speaking on the development at a news conference in Abuja, National Secretary of the party Dipo Olayoku wondered why the certified true copy of the judgment appeared to be contradictory to affirming and sacking the governor at the same time.
He raised concerns related to manipulation of the process and called for proper investigations by the NJC. The Party further urged major stakeholders in the Nigerian project to wade into the matter for the good of the nation’s democracy.
The Court of Appeal Abuja had on Friday 17 November 2023 affirmed the verdict of the Kano state governorship election petition tribunal which sacked Governor Abba Yusuf from office.
