On Sunday, November 12th,2023, eleven personnel of the Nigeria Immigration Service were returning to Abuja from an official assignment in Kano State, in an eighteen-seater official bus, tragically they were involved in a ghastly accident a few kilometers from Kano and as a result four personnel lost their lives while seven sustained various degrees of injuries and are currently receiving treatment at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital in Kano.
To this end, the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) declared a three – day mourning period in honour and memory of the four deceased officers .
Addressing a news conference at the Service headquarters in Abuja, the Public Relations Office, Deputy Comptroller Immigration, Adedotun Aridegbe said an immediate investigation has been ordered by the Acting Comptroller General of Immigration, Caroline Adepoju to ascertain the immediate and remote cause of the accident.
He further extend the condolences of the Ag. Comptroller General who is deeply grieved by the incident and assured of the service support to the families of the deceased.
