The Acting Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun has ordered the immediate arrest and prosecution of the armed criminals that murdered the Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada Division in Rivers State, Superintendent of Police, Bako Angbashim.
According to the statement signed by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi and made available to Channel Network Afrique, CNA, the late officer was humiliated and gruesomely murdered while discharging his constitutional duty as the DPO by the hardened criminals.
“The slain DPO was gruesomely murdered and mutilated by some hardened armed criminals in Ahoada area of Rivers State on Friday, 8th September, 2023, while on operation in the area,” it stated.
While condemning the dastardly act, the IGP ordered for an immediate investigation, arrest, and prosecution of culprits that carried out the heinous and barbaric act, adding that such action was not just an affront on the national status but a reflection of lack of patriotism and gross illegality.
“Such nefarious acts against any operative in Nigeria, will not be taken with levity as all the perpetrators will be caused to face the full wrath of the law,” the statement added.
The Police Chief also use the medium to extend his deepest condolences to the grieving family, dedicated colleagues and friends of the late SP Bako Angbashim.
He however, urged them to embody his dedication, humility and selflessness.
