Jigawa State governor, Umar Namadi, has kicked against granting autonomy to the nation’s universities.
The Governor who gave the indication at a working vising to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund in Abuja said doing so may deny many people university education.
He said the development may lead to high cost of acquiring university education.
Governor Nemadi who also commended the management of TETFund for it’s strides in the provision of infrastructures and other necessities in the nations Tertiary Institutions solicited for partnership with the north west state.
Meanwhile,the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arch Sonny Echono assured of the Funds commitment to repositioning the nations Tertiary Institutions especially in producing industry ready graduates.
Echono also lend his voice on the issue of Autonomy, noting that it should be in phases starting with the administrative autonomy as well as encouraging institutions to gradually but progressively become self sustaining.
