As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to commemorate the 2023 edition of the world population day, President Bola Tinubu has been advised to ensure the nation fulfils its commitment to gender equality and sustainable development goals.
This was the fulcrum of the press conference put together by the National Population Commission NPC in Abuja to highlight activities to observe the day.
NPC Chairman, Hon Isa Kwarra in his remarks demanded the commitment of Nigeria and other Nations to the plight of vulnerable population groups, particularly women and girls to express their rights as well access to make choices in a world of 8 billion people.
The NPC boss further indicated the impact of such rights to a world of opportunities. On her part, the outgoing United Nations Population Fund county representative to Nigeria, Ulla Mueller advocated for more emphasis to the boy child.
The theme of the 2023 World Population day slated for July 11th, is Unleashing the Power of Gender Equality: Uplifting the Voices of Women and Girls to Unlock Our World’s Infinite Possibilities.”
