Residents of the Trademore Estate have kicked Against move by the Federal Capital Territory Authority to demolish the Estate located along the Lugbe-Airport Expressway ,Abuja.
The Phase 2 of the popular estate was last 2 Weeks submerged by floods after hours of rainfall.
The viral video of the incident attracted reactions from Nigerians including a tour of the Tradeestate by top officials of the FCTA who later in a statement declared the estate as a disaster zone.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman of the Trademore Residents Association, Adewale Adelaide at a News conference in Abuja faulted the FCTA on its decision and insisted on other alternative means to address the concern.
Adelaide further reacted to claims by the FCTA that the estate is illegal.
The estate leadership further noted that rather than trade blames , recommendations from an earlier instigation carried out to ascertain the cause of the flood should be implemented.
Insisting that demolition is not the way out of the challenge, the leadership raised concerns that the manner over which 150 Houses in the estate were marked for demolition leaves much to be desired.
