The National Population Commission NPC says it has so far expended about 200 billion naira in preparation for the 2023 Census.
The Commission further indicated that the fund was spent from 2014 when preparation for the exercise began. Director of Public Affairs, Dr Isiaka Yahaya made that clarification at a News conference in Abuja.
He was however quick to add that the conduct of last year’s trial census including series of test runs to determine the methodology to be used for the national head count gulped large chunk of the money.
Dr Yahaya also clarified that no date has been slated for the 2023 census.
The commission said it has nothing to hide in its preparative activities for the census and insisted on delivery a credible and reliable exercise.
